Hearse Thief Caught in Pennsauken, Police Say

An 18-year-old woman faces multiple charges in the incident.

A Stratford woman who stole a hearse from her family's funeral home Tuesday and crashed during her getaway was caught on Route 130 in Pennsauken in the afternoon, police said.

Carly Zane, 18, smacked into a garage wall at Zale's Funeral Home in Stratford when she took off in the Cadillac hearse just before noon, police said, and eventually made her way over into Pennsauken.

Officers there recovered the hearse and arrested Zale, who faces charges of motor vehicle theft, reckless driving and leaving the scene of an accident.

It's the second time in three months that a hearse has been stolen from the funeral home, police said.
