Driver Was High on Route 73, Police Say

David Downs faces multiple charges, including driving while intoxicated.

A West Berlin man who was driving while high was arrested after driving recklessly down Route 73 in Marlton last week, Evesham Township Police said.

David Downs, 42, had 20 packets of heroin and unspecified prescription drugs when he was stopped around 8 p.m. Nov. 24, police said, and officers at the scene believed he was driving under the influence.

Downs failed several field sobriety tests, police said, and was arrested.

He was charged with third-degree distribution of heroin, third-degree possession of pharmaceutical narcotics and driving while intoxicated, and was taken to the Burlington County Jail in default of $7,500 bail.
