Timber Creek Falls to Shawnee in SJ Group 4 Football Championship, 31-22

The Chargers failed in a bid for a third, straight championship.

It was an uphill fight Saturday for the two-time defending Group 4 champion Timber Creek football team in yet another title game, this time against Shawnee.

The Chargers came up short, 31-22, in an upset loss.

Timber Creek trailed 10-0 after the first quarter. But two Dan Williams' touchdowns, including one 19 seconds before the break, narrowed Shawnee's lead to 17-14. The Chargers got even closer by the start of the fourth quarter, when Williams hit Cameron Chambers with a 9-yard touchdown pass. A two-point conversion made the score 24-22 with 11 minutes remaining.

But Shawnee added another touchdown with 1:09 to go to seal the upset win.
