South Jersey Native Signs With the Philadelphia Eagles

Quron Pratt, a Rutgers senior, signed with the pro football team on Sunday.

Rutgers University senior and Palmyra native Quron Pratt has signed a free agent contract with the Philadelphia Eagles, the University announced on Sunday.

Pratt is the first Scarlet Knight to sign with the Eagles since defensive tackle and current defensive assistant coach Charlie Noonan in 2010.

Pratt was a wide receiver and a kick return specialist who also returned punts. He earned the Homer Hazel Trophy as the team's MVP this season.

He was third on the team in receiving with 516 yards in 2013. He ran his first career kickoff back 99 yards for a touchdown against Eastern Michigan on Sept. 14.

He played in all 13 games and started nine in 2013. For his career, he played in 48 career games with 15 starts.

Pratt was one of nine Rutgers University football players who entered this year's draft. None were drafted, and Pratt signed his contract with the Eagles the day after the draft ended.

Pratt's career highlights are as follows:

2013: Named team MVP, earning the Homer Hazel Trophy at team banquet ... played in all 13 games with nine starts at wide receiver ... also a contributor on special teams ... finished third on the team in receiving yards with 516 yards ... hauled in one reception for 23 yards against Notre Dame in the Pinstripe Bowl (12/28) ... had two catches on Senior Night versus USF (12/7) ... honored during senior ceremony before game ... collected 132 yards receiving, including an 84-yard catch, at UConn (11/30) ... brought in five receptions versus Cincinnati (11/16) ... totaled five catches for 88 yards against Temple (11/2), including a 41-yard reception ... named a semifinalist for the National Football Foundation Campbell Trophy, also known as the “Academic Heisman” ... had a reception over the middle at SMU (10/5) ... caught five passes for 66 yards in the win over Arkansas (9/21) ... ran first career kickoff back 99 yards for a touchdown against Eastern Michigan (9/14), adding two catches on offense ... named American Athletic Conference Special Teams Player of the Week for the efforts ... blocked a punt and had two receptions in win over Norfolk State (9/7) ... started season opener at Fresno State (8/29) and recorded 47 yards on three catches ... named to American Athletic Conference All-Academic Team.

2012: Appeared in all 13 games with one start at Temple (10/20) … first catch of season was a six-yard grab in the 26-0 win vs. Howard (9/8) … set career highs with 85 receiving yards and a long reception of 45 yards in the 35-26 win at Arkansas (9/22), totaling five catches … grabbed one catch for 30 yards in the Kent State game (10/27) … three catches for 24 yards in the Pitt game (11/24) … two receptions for 23 yards in the Louisville game (11/29) … named to the BIG EAST All-Academic Football Team.

2011: Factored into receiving game for RU after being limited by injuries earlier in his career … appeared in all 13 games with five starts, recording 32 catches for 327 yards and one touchdown … came up big with six catches for 54 yards in the 19-16 double overtime win at Syracuse (10/1), including a 4th-and-9-converting catch for 13 yards late in the fourth quarter … three catches for 41 yards, including the first touchdown grab of his career, to spark RU’s second-half comeback in the 21-20 win vs. Navy (10/15) … five catches for 49 yards in the 20-3 win vs. Cincinnati (11/19) … grabbed five passes for 34 yards at UConn (11/26) ... member of the BIG EAST All-Academic Football Team.

2010: Wide receiver who was limited by injury all season … was competing for a starting role in preseason before suffering an injury that sidelined him for first two games … was forced to the sidelines again in RU’s ninth game of the season with a broken collarbone.

2009: Switched from defensive back to wide receiver during preseason camp and appeared in two games before his season ended prematurely due to injury … made collegiate debut vs. Texas Southern (10/10) … recorded one reception for 14 yards on the season.

Prior to Rutgers: Four-year letterwinner at Palmyra High School for head coach Ty Belford ... started every game since his freshman year at defensive back ... Palmyra’s all-time leader in interceptions with 22 at the time of graduation ... picked off four passes as a senior as Palmyra won the Burlco/Olympic Freedom Division title … Philadelphia Inquirer All-South Jersey First Team selection on defense … allowed just one touchdown in four years at cornerback, including none over the final three years … led team to 9-1 record as a senior … team-best 10 touchdown receptions on offense at wide receiver … Burlington County Times Defensive Player of the Year … Courier-Post Second Team All-South Jersey on defense … rated as the No. 23 prospect in New Jersey by SuperPrep Magazine … one of the fastest quarter-mile track performers in South Jersey and regarded as one of New Jersey’s premier point guards … personal best of 49.7 in the 400m and broke the 1,000-point plateau as a senior on the hardwood … rated as the No. 38 cornerback in the nation by ESPN.com ... born 4/25/91 ... a sociology major.
