East Tennis Cruises into South Jersey Finals

The Cougars are headed back for a shot at the Group 4 championship.

Make it three straight South Jersey finals for the Cherry Hill East girls tennis team.

Rachel Pham scored a 6-0, 6-0 victory at second singles to lead the No. 2-seeded Cougars handled No. 3 seed Toms River North in a semifinal pushed indoors Friday, cruising to a 4-1 victory.

East swept at doubles—Kristina Klinisova and Lauren Romisher took a 6-3, 6-1, win, and Adel Boyarsky and Sarah Jang took a 6-0, 6-4, win—and got a 6-4, 6-4 victory from Gabrielle Zimmerman to close out the win.

The Cougars move on to face No. 1 Lenape in the finals Monday—a team they took down, 4-1, earlier this week—with a shot at winning the sectional title a year after falling, 3-2, in their championship shot.
