Cherry Hill Stealers Win in Legion States

The locals play again Sunday at 1 p.m.

Facing a five-run deficit and the possibility of a brutal road back through the elimination bracket, the Cherry Hill Stealers came back to defeat Mount Morris, 8-6, in the opening round of the New Jersey Junior American Legion tournament at Cherry Hill East Saturday.

Pitcher Ian Scheideman picked up the win for Cherry Hill, which moves on to play Brooklawn Sunday afternoon in a winner's-bracket semifinal at 1 p.m. at East.

If the Stealers can get through with a win, they'll be off until Monday. A loss would mean back-to-back games, with Cherry Hill potentially facing Warren Hills, which lost to Brooklawn to open the action Sunday.

Sunday's full schedule is below:
At Cherry Hill East
1 p.m.—Cherry Hill vs. Brooklawn
4 p.m.—Warren Hills vs. Brooklawn/Cherry Hill loser
At Eastern
1 p.m.—Washington Township vs. Gibbsboro
4 p.m.—North Warren vs. Washington Township/Gibbsboro loser
