Two Men Charged in 2013 Double Murder in Camden

Jose Cortez, 38, of Riverton, and Jorge Lopez, 35, of Gloucester City, are each charged with two counts of murder for the deaths of Christopher Humphrey, 34, of Franklinville, and Jose Vega, 35, of Camden.

Two people have been charged in connection with a double homicide in Camden in 2013,  Camden County Prosecutor Warren W. Faulk and Camden County Police Chief Scott Thomson announced Monday afternoon.

Jose Cortez, 38, of Riverton, and Jorge Lopez, 35, of Gloucester City, are each charged with two counts of murder for the deaths of Christopher Humphrey, 34, of Franklinville, and Jose Vega, 35, of Camden.

The two victims were found fatally shot at 33rd and Farragut streets on Dec. 22, 2013.

Cortes was taken into custody Monday in Riverton, and Lopez was arrested on Friday in Camden.

The two defendants allegedly killed the two victims at a home on the 700 block of South 4th Street on Dec. 21, 2013, and then moved the bodies to a wooded area near 33rd and Farragut streets.
