Police: Sam Ash Thief Stowed Les Pauls in His Pants

Cherry Hill detectives are asking for help identifying an alleged guitar thief and the woman they say is his accomplice.

An unidentified man with a heavy South Philadelphia accent has managed to smuggle two high-end Les Paul slim-neck guitars out of the Sam Ash store on Route 38 in the past two months, Cherry Hill Police said, with the help of a female accomplice and a roomy set of pants.

The alleged guitar thief struck Dec. 19 and again Jan. 8, slipping the Les Pauls—valued at $2,800 each—down his pants and strolling out of the store while his accomplice distracted employees, police said.

Police are asking for help trying to identify the two, who are both in their late 40s or early 50s. A third individual, who drove the two alleged thieves away in a black SUV, was also involved in both thefts, according to police.
