Pennsylvania Man Who Stole Cop Car, Led Police on Two-State Chase Pleads Guilty

A Pennsylvania man who stole a police car, injured a patrol officer and led police on a chase through two states pleaded guilty to carjacking and eluding on Thursday, Camden County Prosecutor Warren Faulk announced.

Blake Bills, 25, of Macungie, PA, now faces 17 years in prison for the carjacking and must serve 85 percent of his term before becoming eligible for parole.

He may serve an eight-year concurrent sentence for eluding.

Bills and Shayna Sykes fled from a police officer who attempted to stop them after witnessing a drug transaction in Camden on March 3, 2013. That officer was injured when his car flipped over during the chase.

Two days later, Bills and Sykes were seen in a stolen car. Later that day, they attempted to steal another driver’s car. Eventually, they stole a Camden police cruiser while that officer conducted a traffic stop on Federal Street in Camden.

Bills admitted he stole the car and ran over Officer Sekou Reid-Bey, who is still recovering from the injuries, according to the prosecutor’s office.

Bills then drove one block down the street and picked up Sykes. They then led police on a pursuit east on Admiral Wilson Boulevard into Pennsauken, then back into Camden on the same road. The two crossed the Benjamin Franklin Bridge and were captured in Philadelphia after an extensive pursuit.

Bills is scheduled to be sentenced July 3. Sykes case is still pending trial.
