Pedestrian Hit at Church Road Circle Monday Night

The crash happened on the Cooper Landing Road side of the circle.

A pedestrian was hit by an SUV at the Church Road circle Monday evening, shutting a portion of the roadway for close to five hours as Cherry Hill Police investigated the scene.

The crash happened during rush hour, at the intersection of Cooper Landing Road and Church Road, bringing a slew of officers to the area as traffic snarled on Route 38.

Few specifics were available as of Monday night; officers at the scene weren't authorized to provide details about the accident, which remained under investigation well after 10 p.m. Witnesses at nearby businesses on the south side of the circle indicated an SUV was involved, and may have dragged the person who was hit.

The state Department of Transportation and police shut down about 100 yards of Cooper Landing Road leading into the circle, as well as the entire southern half of the circle itself.

The crash comes just a few days after another accident involving a pedestrian, a little more than a mile away on Church Road. Aung Naing Htwe, of Maple Shade, was hit near the entrance to Kings Croft around 2 a.m. Saturday, later dying of his injuries at Cooper University Hospital in Camden.
