Kids Abandoned in Car at Cherry Hill Mall, Police Say

Four children were unhurt in the Friday incident.

A Camden woman who left four kids, including a one-year-old, in a car while she shopped at the Cherry Hill Mall last week was arrested and charged with neglect, Cherry Hill Police said.

The four kids—ages 9, 8, 3 and 1—were left locked in the car early Friday afternoon, with the windows down, by their aunt, Vianey Derio-Vega, 33, of the 300 block of Pfeiffer Street, police said.

Mall security found Derio-Vega within 15 minutes of officers being called to the mall, police said, and she was arrested and charged after being taken to the car.

Derio-Vega was released on a summons, pending an Aug. 27 court date.

The children were unhurt, police said, and with the temperature in the 70s outside, there were no heat concerns.
