Fatal 295 Crash Leads to DWI Charge for Cherry Hill Man

The wreck happened just before midnight Wednesday.

An unidentified woman was killed and a Cherry Hill man faces a DWI charge following a late-night crash on Route 295 in West Deptford, State Police said.

Mohammad Khan, 21, of Cherry Hill, was driving a white Toyota Camry that plowed into the rear of a white Hyundai Accent driven by 41-year-old David Hewitt, of Carney's Point, at 11:24 p.m. near mile marker 22.6 on the southbound side of the highway, police said.

An unidentified, 32-year-old woman who was a passenger in the Hyundai was airlifted to Cooper University Hospital in Camden, where she later died, according to police.

Sgt. Brian Polite cautioned that the information was "very preliminary."

Polite said the cause of the accident is as yet unknown and that the case is still under investigation. He could not comment on whether anyone else involved in the crash had been injured.

Khan has only been charged with driving while intoxicated at this point, police said.
