Camden Man Charged in Weekend Fatal Hit-and-Run

Jose Sosa, 61, was charged with leaving the scene of a fatal Collision, operating a motor vehicle with a suspended license and leaving an endangered victim.

A Camden man has been charged in a fatal-hit-and-run in the city over the weekend, Camden County Prosecutor Mary Colalillo and Camden County Police Chief Scott Thomson announced Thursday morning.

Jose Sosa, 61, was charged with leaving the scene of a fatal Collision, operating a motor vehicle with a suspended license and leaving an endangered victim.

He allegedly hit Alfredo Siguenza-Trejo, 39, of Camden, while driving a 1991 white Ford Econoline van on North 27th Street near High Street at 9:20 p.m. Saturday night.

Siguenza-Tejo died of his injuries on Wednesday at Cooper Hospital.

Camden County Police spotted a Ford Econoline van matching the description of the vehicle that struck Siguenza-Trejo Wednesday afternoon.

Police stopped the vehicle at 32nd Street and River Road in Camden. Sosa was transported to the Camden County Prosecutor’s Office, where he was charged.

He was held at the Camden County Jail on $85,000 bail.
