Obituary: James Thomas McVeigh Jr.

James Thomas McVeigh, Jr., 71, of Voorhees passed away peacefully Wednesday, July 16, 2014 surrounded by his devoted family.

James Thomas McVeigh, Jr., 71, of Voorhees passed away peacefully Wednesday, July 16, 2014 surrounded by his devoted family. 

Jim was born and raised in Drexel Hill, PA.  He was a graduate of Monsignor Bonner High Class of  “61”, he graduated from  St. Joseph’s Univ. , Phila. Class of “ 66 “with a BS degree. He served on St. Joe’s parent’s council and was a True Hawk’s fan holding season basketball tickets for 20 yrs. and  is now a Golden Hawk

He  proudly served his country in the U.S. Army from 1966-1969.  Jim started his own company, The Payroll Accounting Company in Moorestown, NJ which he operated for over 25 yrs. Jim was  a member   and  Past President of the Moorestown Rotary Club which he served for  over 30 yrs serving in many capacities during his tenure , helping to raise money to build St.  Andrew the Apostle  Church ,  was Past President of the Parish Council and served on many committee’s over the years. 

Jim is survived by his devoted wife of 32 years Sharon D. McVeigh (Mancini), his loving children and grandchildren Kevin (Kimberly) McVeigh (Kaitlyn and Kelly), Brian (Jessica) McVeigh (Colin and Alaina), Jodee Shemonsky - Vallone (Jimmy), Michael Shemonsky, and Anne  (Ed) Shemonsky - Hackett (Shannon, Teddy, and Keegan). He is also survived by his Step mother, Kathleen McVeigh, and two sisters Joan Sandone and Catherine Fuga.

He was predeceased by his beloved parents James T. McVeigh, Sr. and Catherine McVeigh, and his brother Donald.

Mass of Christian Burial Tues. 10:30 am at the    St. Andrew the Apostle Roman Catholic Church, 27 Kresson- Gibbsboro Rd. , Gibbsboro, NJ .  Viewing Monday eve 6- 8 pm at the Church . Interment Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Berlin, NJ.
