John Franklin 'Frank' Clapp, Lay Minister, Dies at 77

He was a lay eucharistic minister at Christ the King Church in Haddonfield, Holy Eucharist Church in Cherry Hill, and also very active at St. Vincent Pallotti Church of Haddon Township.

John Franklin “Frank” Clapp, 77, died on Wednesday in Cherry Hill. 

He was the husband of Jeanette Fiola Clapp (nee Vetri) and the late Jackie (nee Cesanek); father of Jackie Carroll (Phil) of Collingswood, Franklin Clapp of Haddonfield, Jeanne Collins (Bud) of Blackwood and Michelle Knorr of San Diego, CA; grandfather of Philip, Jennifer, Franklin, Maggie, Brittney, Danielle, Megan and Cassie and brother of Marg Pfeiffer, Pat Mierzejewski and Ralph Clapp.

Frank graduated from Collingswood HS, where he was president of his 1954 class and in 1965 from Drexel University.  He was a structural engineer for 42 years with United Engineers of Philadelphia. He was an active volunteer with Kairos & Cursillo, a religious prison ministry where he primarily worked retreats at Leesburg Prison in New Jeresey.  Frank was also a “bookmate” volunteer reader to children at St. Joe’s Pro Cathedral in Camden, a Lay eucharistic minister at both Christ the King RC Church in Haddonfield and Holy Eucharist RC Church in Cherry Hill.  He was also very active at St. Vincent Pallotti RC Church of Haddon Twp.  Additionally, Frank loved to golf.

Frank’s family will receive friends on Sunday from 2 to 4 p.m., at Kain-Murphy Funeral Services, 15 West End Ave., Haddonfield.

All are invited to his funeral Mass on 11 a.m. Monday at the Parish of the Holy Eucharist at St. Pius X, 344 Kresson Road, Cherry Hill.  Memorial donations may be made in Frank’s name to the Alzheimer's Association SJ Chapter, 3 Eves Dr., Suite 310, Marlton, NJ 08053.
