Farm and Fisherman Tavern & Market Opens Saturday

The farm-to-table movement is coming to Cherry Hill.

One of Philadelphia's renowned BYOBs will make its Cherry Hill debut this weekend, when the Farm and Fisherman Tavern & Market opens Saturday evening.

Chef-owners Joshua Lawler and Todd Fuller are bringing the farm-to-table ethos with them to the space formerly occupied by Andreotti's Viennese Cafe at 1442 East Route 70, creating a combination bar-restaurant-grocer in the Tavern & Market, which will specialize in regional, seasonal fare.

“Todd and I both live in this neighborhood with our families and saw the need for a family-friendly, food-driven place to eat—whether for an anniversary celebration or a simple night out with the kids,” Lawler said. “The Tavern & Market will be all that and so much more: a great, friendly place to eat where the servers and bartenders know you by name, as well as a generously stocked resource for the freshest ingredients available, from the exceptional producers and purveyors who also call our region home.”

Essentially two destinations in one, the market side will be open during the day, offering breakfast fare and a lunch and dinner menu with everything from entrees and side dishes to full family-style meals, while also giving diners the chance to pick up some of the elements used in the tavern's menu to bring home, including growlers of various craft beers.

“Our Tavern menu and our Market offerings will encourage our guests to cook and eat the way that we do, with a focus on local and seasonal fare and with a deep appreciation for all the exceptional raw ingredients that our region has to offer,” Fuller said.

The tavern, meanwhile, is a 150-seat bar and restaurant—five times the size of the Philadelphia location—serving Lawler and Fuller’s menu, which will feature staples like chicken baked in hay and Bloody Beet Salad, a play on one of Lawler's popular Philadelphia dishes.

“This is a gathering place in the spirit of the great market-cafes of Europe and the American roadside taverns – a place our guests can call their own and visit again and again for any number of occasions,” said Lawler.

Saturday's opening is set for 5 p.m.; regular hours to start will be from 4:30 p.m. to 11 p.m., Monday through Thursday, 4:30 p.m. to midnight on Friday and Saturday, and 4:30 p.m. to 10 p.m. on Sunday. Breakfast offerings will start early next year.
