Farmers, YMCA Offering Help to Those Hit by Storm Damage

Get your phone charged, file a claim with FEMA and more this weekend.

Farmers Insurance is offering free assistance—and a chance to charge your phone—and the YMCA of Burlington and Camden Counties are extending a hand as well to those who have lost power or worse following Hurricane Sandy.

Farmers will be out this weekend with a mobile claims center at the Barclay Farms Shopping Center on Route 70 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. both Saturday and Sunday, offering a wide variety of services.

They’ll have representatives on hand to help you file a claim, if you’re a Farmers policyholder, and can also help affected homeowners file a claim with the Federal Emergency Management Agency.

On a practical level, they’ll also have internet access, phone charging stations and a satellite phone available, for those who need to get in contact with family members.

All services are open to all affected residents, not just Farmers policyholders.

Farmers will also offer coffee and water throughout the day, and have a hot dog lunch available between noon and 1:30 p.m.

Representatives from Wegmans and Kaminski’s will also be on hand both days, providing food and other items for affected residents.

The YMCA is going a step further—besides internet access and a charging station, those who have lost power because of Sandy can stop in to warm up, use the facilities and even get a shower at any point while the power’s still out.

The Mt. Laurel YMCA, at 59 Centerton Road, off Route 38 in Mt. Laurel, is the closest location offering help, and is open 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday and 5:30 a.m. to 10 p.m. Monday through Friday. For more information, call the Mt. Laurel YMCA’s Welcome Center at 856-234-6200.
