The Ibanga Family's Academic Performance

On July 4, 2014 Ralph and Thelma Douglas of Cherry Hill held a cookout for their guests, which included the Ibanga family of Camden City.

The family consist of the parents, Ubokudom (Ubee) and Ekaete, and their three children, Adeima, age 19, Aniekan, age 16 and Abasiama, age 14.

Mr. Douglas did something different by adding a surprise celebration during the cookout.

His fictitious name is CAPTAIN CAN DOsm and he created 10 personalized CAPTAIN CAN DOsm  Celebration Cards for some of those present, including his wife.

Academic performance was a recurring occasion that was   celebrated.   All three Ibanga children had GPA scores above 3.00 for the 2013/2014 school year.

This was not unusual for them, since this was the same pattern for several previous school years.

However, the difference this school year is that their mother, Ekaete held a full time job, attended her first year of Graduate School and also earned a GPA score above 3.00.

All four family members were presented with celebration cards for their academic performance.

But, in addition, the family as a whole received another form of recognition.

They were presented with the CAPTAIN CAN DOsm  Certificate of Achievement, which states, “ This Certificate is Awarded to The Ibanga Family, in recognition of its academic achievements individually at the middle and high school levels and at the Undergraduate and Graduate School Levels with GPA’s ranging from 3.20 to 3.90 during the 2013/2014 School Year.”

This achievement   by one family, in one academic school year is very unusual.

Congratulations Ibanga Family!
