Comcast Providing Free WiFi in Wake of Sandy

Non-Comcast customers will be able to use the wireless provider's Wifi hotspots for free through next week.

To help residents and emergency personnel cope with the aftermath of Hurricane Sandy, Comcast is opening up its Xfinity WiFi hotspots in Greater Philadelphia and New Jersey to anyone who needs them–including non-Comcast customers. Comcast owns and operates thousands of WiFi hotspots in the Philadelphia region and in New Jersey that are typically only available to its customers.

To use a hotspot, search for the “xfinitywifi” network name. Non-customers or those who do not have their log-in credentials can click on the “Not a Comcast subscriber?” link at the bottom of the Sign-In page. Then select the “Complimentary Trial Session” option from the drop down list.

Users will be able to renew their complimentary sessions every two hours through Wednesday, Nov. 7. For a searchable map of Xfinity WiFi hotspots, which are located both indoors and outdoors in malls, shopping districts, parks, train platforms and other areas, visit www.xfinity.com/wifi.

Some hotspots were impacted by the storm and are affected by commercial power outages.

As much as people like to bust on Comcast, the company does a great deal of community service and this offer is just another example. Thanks big C!

How many Upper Saucon Township Comcast wifi sites are there?
Dago Girl October 31, 2012 at 08:58 pm
They should provide this, given the amount of profit they are making.

The corporations seem to be very helpful during this unprecedented event. AT&T and TMobile sharing bandwidth for NYC, waiving late fees and extending the grace period on payment dates. Now Comcast providing wifi. Since corporations run this country it is nice to see them responding so fast!

Comcast - heavy supporter for BHO and his agenda. Communist Casting bought MSNBC to propoopagandize and refrain from reporting the news, accept for what is dictated by the WH.
I'm trying to cut ties with them but they have eliminated competition. I use SkyAngel IPTV, much better for the kids and I won't have to worry about commercials.

Some people lost their homes and all you can do is complain about your lousy cable? Get a life moron.
Momma T November 5, 2012 at 02:15 am
I agree Fred!
