2013 Greek Agora Festival Starts Thursday

The festival runs noon to 1 a.m. each day through Sunday.

Pull together Greek music and dancing, wine and 100,000 honey puffs, and you have a recipe for the annual Agora festival at St. Thomas Greek Orthodox Church, which kicks off Thursday at noon.

Possibly the largest Greek festival in the Philadelphia area, the Agora runs through the weekend, offering locals the chance to immerse themselves in Greek culture for a day.

Events run from noon until 1 a.m. each day, with some of the highlights:

Thursday:

Mediterranean Cultural Show: music starting at 7 p.m.

Greek American Idol: A first-of-its-kind karaoke contest starting at 10 p.m.

Senior citizen lunch specials starting at noon.

Friday:

Acropolis Dance Party: Athens' night life comes to Cherry Hill under the span tent.

Saturday:

Bouzouki Party: A night of live music centered around Greece's national instrument.

Greek Wine and Spirit Festival: All-day specials on wines from Greece and Cyprus.

Sunday:

Kefi Greek Music Festival: After a 2 to 4 p.m. happy hour, festival-goers are invited to join in live music from both bands and DJs for the evening.

The festival will also offer tours of the church and its religious artifacts throughout the weekend, along with various other events.

Entrance to the festival and parking are both free.
