POLL: Cherry Hill Abortion Clinic Counselor's Video Garners Mixed Reaction

The day after her abortion video went viral, a Cherry Hill abortion clinic counselor saw her share of criticism, but also had people come to her defense concerning the highly controversial topic.

Emily Letts, 25, filmed her abortion in an effort to “remove the stigma” surrounding the procedure. The video is shot completely from the waist up, and Letts made sure to state this is only one story. She realizes not every abortion story is a positive story, but she wanted to show there are some out there.

Not every abortion story can be positive, and neither could the reactions.

The Gateway Pundit published the video with the headline “HORROR! Far Left Activist Films Her Own Abortion Video!”

Carol Tobias, president of the National Right to Life Committee, called the video a “sad commentary on our nation that someone can be rewarded for filming an event that takes the life of an innocent unborn human being," and Penny Nance, the CEO and president of Concerned Women for America, said Letts ignores the physical and psychological ramifications of having an abortion.

Commenters on Patch.com were also critical, even those who call themselves “pro-choice.”

One commenter wrote: “I'm all for 'it's your body' but keep that private! I wasn't ready to be a parent at 18 but I got ready fast! 18 years later I don't regret that decision for a minute..made us both work harder than we'd ever imagined and I wouldn't wish being a young parent on any of my kids. Narcissistic personalities and unprotected sex=bad outcome! "a positive abortion story" thats disgusting!”

Another commenter called her a “vile piece of human debris.”

However, others came to her defense.

“Everyone is so upset with Emily Letts, but nobody likes a trailblazer. This is something we should be able to talk about,” Rebecca Bannister wrote on Twitter.

Mommyish.com called her a “brave woman.”

One Patch commenter wrote, “These comments are exactly why she might feel the need to try to remove the stigma surrounding abortion. I applaud her.”
Others commented saying that with the anti-abortion photos that have been published, “it seems reasonable that a video like this should be shared.”

On Wednesday, Letts told Phillymag.com this video was about “not being shamed into silence.”

“I feel like the reason people are going crazy over my story is because they want it,” she told the magazine. “Women and men have been thirsting for something like this.”

Her video won the Abortion Care Network’s inaugural Abortion Stigma Busting Video Competition.
